How do sessions work?

Assessment Support

1. Before we schedule an appointment: I'll reach out to you via email to discuss your specific support needs. This will help us determine whether this service is a good fit for you. I'll ask about the areas where you need assistance and offer some suggestions on how I can help. This includes estimating how many sessions you will require. Upon agreeing on a course of action, we'll book our first session.

2. During our appointment: We will work together in line with our agreed course of action, tracking our progress as we go along. If more than one session is needed, you will be given the option book another one. We will continue to work together in order to make sure you feel prepared and confident ahead of your assessment(s).

Clients commonly request assistance with:

  • Filling out assessment forms

  • Preparing a written document to take to their assessment

  • Support with articulating their neurodivergent traits

Individual Counselling

1. After booking your free consultation: I'll send you a brief pre-consultation form to fill out. The form offers you an opportunity to express why you are seeking counselling, what you wish to gain from it and your accommodation needs.  Having such information prior to our consultation allows me to ensure we use our 30 minutes together efficiently.

2. During our consultation: I will take the time to tell you a bit about myself and my approach to counselling. We'll discuss your needs and goals for counselling together and determine if we are a good fit for each other. There is no obligation to pursue counselling with me if you feel it isn't for you. Equally, there is no pressure to let me know of your decision there and then - you're welcome to take some time and think about it.

3. If you decide to pursue counselling with me: We'll book our first session and I'll send you a summary of our consultation as well as some client intake forms to fill out.

4. During your first session: I'll be utilizing the information gathered in our consultation as a starting point. I'll continue to learn about you and we'll have the opportunity to get to know each other better.

5. Your counselling journey: The safe space we nurture together will allow you to explore yourself, neurodivergence and how you navigate life as a neurodivergent individual. We'll regularly check in and assess the need for any adjustments so that you continue to get the most out of our time together. If something isn't working for you, or your priorities in counselling alter, we will adapt accordingly. So that this is possible, I encourage you to join me in being observational and communicative as we work together.
